Did I? Why yes, I did
Tried the new "Bacon Sundae" at Burger King. Why? Because I'm one of those people that heard about chocolate-covered bacon and said, "hmm...That sounds yummy!" The verdict? It was definitely different. Everybody who tried it (me, my husband, and my son) used that word to describe it. Nobody disliked it, exactly, but I think I was the only one that had more than a bite and could actually say I liked it. The bacon basically takes the place of nuts in the sundae- providing a salty, crunchy counterpoint to the chocolate, caramel, and ice cream. Although it definitely is saltier/more savory than most of the walnuts or peanuts that get sprinkled on an ice cream sundae. My in-laws took in some show pigeons. (They were old and being retired.) They are clever birds, and despite efforts to prevent it, there was a baby pigeon. This is my oldest kiddo holding it.
This is my sweetie, working on the small lathe. We had looked at it several times at Harbor Freight, before I said, "Oh, let's just get it!" He had wanted one for a long time, and it was on sale. I have a whole collection of cool little wooden things sitting on my desk now.
His family heard that he was working on a lathe, and got his Grandpa's lathe out of storage and brought it over to my in-laws. It's been special to see him, his brother, and his dad all use one of Grandpa's tools to make new things. I think he would have been very happy to know his son and grandsons are making good use of it now. We had to go to Dierke's Lake for a swim when we visited my folks! (My sister and her kids who live waaaaaaay across the country were also visiting) I was hoping to catch my dad jumping off the diving board, but alas, I only got his splash.
I didn't bring a swimming suit, but had a lovely time paddling around in one of the kayaks they had for rent. SO much fun, I may be a little bit hooked on it now. (I promptly looked up where we could rent kayaks for an afternoon on the river when we got home.) And yes, see those kids climbing over on the rocks? They do jump off of them into the water, yes they do. I was always too chicken to try it, but both of my nephews had done it by the time the day was done! I think they inherited some of my sister's dare-devil spirit. (She grew up doing gymnastics, and always seemed pretty fearless to me. ) My youngest modifying his NERF gun - the IPod Touch is handy for watching a how-to video while working! :) (It was a gift from his grandparents)
At the Perrine Bridge! One of the few places where B.A.S.E. jumping is legal: Can you spot the parachute? We watched four people jump while we were there.
